Yesterday, Bev was having a little bit of trouble adjusting to our house. She was kind of nervous and skittish around the other dogs (with the exception of Carrie). We decided to take them on a walk together so that she would hopefully realize that our dogs really aren't that scary.
She did great on the walk! We put her and Carrie on long lines and the rest of the dogs were off-leash. The walk ended up being around 2 1/2 miles. This is about the normal length we go with our dogs but you could deffinately tell Bev wasn't used to it. She spent all of her energy in the beginning and by the end she was pretty slow.
After the walk she was SO tired! She slept it off for the rest of the day :)
I think it was just what she needed to get her energy out and to get used to our other dogs. Now she is much more relaxed around them and is able to be in the same room without hiding behind the couch.
Now to work on her fear of the vacuum!
There are also other dog breeds that are intelligent and safe of children for complete information see the List of dog breeds
